Schwab contends at state

On Monday Oct. 10 and Tuesday Oct. 11, Evie Schwab ’18 played in the state golf meet in North Platte, NE. Schwab shot a 71 on the front and back nine to finish day one with a 142. She improved her day one score by 21 strokes on day two with a 59 on the front nine and 62 on the back nine.

“The first day was bad. It was my worst score. The second day I improved a a lot,” Schwab said. “Like I said I did alright at state.”

Being a first time state qualifier, Schwab had a mix of emotion after qualifying and while playing.

“It was an interesting experience. There was a lot of people and it was a brand new thing for me. I was nervous going in,” Schwab said.

Fairbury Qualifier Competes at State Meet

On Monday, Oct. 10 Evie Schwab ’18 competed for Fairbury at the State Girls Golf meet in North Platte.  Schwab shot a 71-71 to make her total score 142 on the first day of competition.


The state tournament is a two-day meet. Schwab will play Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 11:22 am.


Girls Golf Sends One to State Meet

On Wednesday Oct. 5 the Fairbury Girls Golf team traveled to Palmyra to compete in their district meet. The Lady Jeffs had a pretty good showing at the district meet as they finished fifth as a team and qualified one golfer for the state meet.

Evie Schwab ’18 led the way for the Lady Jeffs as she shot an overall score of 106 and finished sixth individually. Schwab qualified for the state meet for her first time. The Girls Golf State Meet begins on Monday Oct. 10 and continues on Tuesday Oct. 11.

Girls Golf Team Earns Fourth At Home Invite

The Lady Jeffs Golf team placed fourth in their home invite yesterday with an 18 hole team score of 503. Fairbury’s top golfer was Sara Mitchell who scored a 92 in 18 holes. This score eared Mitchell a third place finish and was a career high.

Other golf finishers were Ashley Griffee who placed 22nd with an 18 hole score of 132, Shavara Kroeker who placed 25th with a score of 138, Evie Schwab who placed 26th with a score of 141, and Kenna Troxel who placed 30th with a score of 151.

Lady Jeffs Golf Finds Tough Competition

On Thursday Aug. 25 the Lady Golf team competed in a dual with Beatrice. The Lady Jeffs lost the dual and finished with a team score of 239 on nine holes. Sara Mitchell ’19 led the team and shot a 52 through nine holes.

The next day the Lady Jeffs traveled to Seward to compete in the Seward Invite. It was a 13 team field and Fairbury finished in ninth with a score of 455. Mitchell again led the team with a score of 106 in 18 holes. Evie Schwab ’18 also had a good day on the course as she shot a 114. The next competition for the Lady Jeffs Golf team is a tournament on Friday Sept. 2 at the Hidden Acres Golf Club in Beatrice.

Girls Golf Competes in Beatrice Invite

On Tuesday Aug. 23 the Fairbury Girls Golf team kicked off their season at the Beatrice Invite. The team finished in seventh place in the eight team field. Leading the Lady Jeffs was Sara Mitchell ’19 who shot a 123.

Papillion La-Vista won the team title while Omaha Skutt Catholic finished runner up. The next competition for Lady Jeffs comes on Aug. 25 when they dual Beatrice. On Aug. 26 they travel to Seward to compete in the Seward Invitational.
