Football Wins Thriller in Milford

On Friday Oct. 21 the Fairbury Jeffs played their last regular season game of the year when they traveled to Milford to take on the Milford/Dorchester Eagles. The Jeffs had already clinched a spot in the state playoffs.

After the first quarter the score was tied at 7-7. In the second quarter the teams exchanged scores but Fairbury took the lead after Milford missed a PAT, which made the score 14-13 going into halftime. The Jeffs scored a touchdown early in the third quarter to make the score 21-13.

A late rally by the Eagles tied the score at 21-21. The Jeffs made a last minute drive which set up a 27 yard Justin Peterson ’17 field goal. The final score was 24-21. The Jeffs take on the Omaha Boystown Cowboys in Omaha on Oct. 28 at 7 pm.

Football Claims District Title

On Friday Oct. 14 the Fairbury Football team held their parents night as they played Raymond Central Mustangs. Fairbury graduates eight seniors from this team. The game between the Jeffs and Mustangs decided the district title.

After a scoreless first quarter the Jeffs scored the only points of the first half on a touchdown pass from Adam Wasserman ’18 to Patrick Ondrak ’17. The Jeffs led at  the half 7-0.

The second half was dominated by the Jeffs as they won the game by the final score of 35-12. With the win the Jeffs earned the district title. The next competition for the Jeffs is Oct. 21 in Milford as they take on the Milford/Dorchester Eagles.

Football Earns Signature Win

On Friday Sept. 30 the Fairbury football faced off against the Ashland-Greenwood Bluejays in a district contest. The game was one to be remembered. The two teams went back and forth to make the score tied 14-14 at the half.

Ashland-Greenwood were the first to score in the second half but missed the PAT to make the score 20-14. A long drive by the Jeffs offense set up a touchdown for Fairbury with under a minute left in regulation. The score was a 30 yard touchdown grab for Tanner Novotny ’17 from quarterback Adam Wasserman ’18. Justin Peterson ’17 drilled the extra point to give the Jeffs a 21-20 lead.

The Fairbury defense held off a late attack to preserve the victory. The next contest for the Jeffs is Friday Oct. 7 as they travel to Wymore to take on the Southern Raiders.


Homecoming Win for Football team

On Friday September 23 the Fairbury football team took on the Lincoln Christian Crusaders. It was homecoming night for the Jeffs.

The Fairborn defense lines up against Lincoln Christian on Sept. 23. The Jeffs won homecoming for the second season in a row.

The Jeffs jumped out to a 14 point lead in the first half but Lincoln Christian rallied to make it 14-14. Fairbury added a touchdown just before halftime.

The second half was all Jeffs as they scored three touchdowns to make the final 42-14. The football team’s next game is September 30 as they travel to Ashland to play
the Ashland-Greenwood Bluejays.

Football Leashes Bulldogs

On Thursday Sept. 16 the Fairbury Football team traveled to Auburn to take on the Bulldogs. This was an old fashioned football game that included plenty of defense and run offense. Fairbury used long drives and good defense to take a 14-0 lead at the half.

In the second half the Jeffs extended their lead and the defense held to make the final score 20-0. The Jeffs defense held the Bulldogs to a shutout and has played six straight quarters without giving up any points. The next game for the Jeffs is Sept. 23 as they take on the Lincoln Christian Crusaders. This is homecoming week for the Jeffs.

JV Football Earns First Win

The Fairbury JV Football team took on

Jeremiah Gray ’19 shakes off a Fillmore Central defender as he returns a punt. Gray had one punt return for a touchdown in the game.

The Jeffs had a slow start to the game as Fillmore scored a touchdown and missed the PAT to make the score 6-0.

After that the Jeffs took over the game and scored 57 unanswered points. The final score of the game was 57-6. The next game for the JV is Sept. 19 at York.

Heartbreak in Falls City

On Friday Sept. 9 the Fairbury Football team headed to Falls City to take on the Tigers. The Jeffs fought through the rain soaked game and came up short as they lost 14-13.

Falls City led the game 14-7 at halftime. The Jeffs scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter off of a Logan Slater ’18 run to make the score 14-13. The Jeffs failed the two point conversion attempt. With time running out the Jeffs attempted a hail mary but the pass was swatted away. The next game for the Jeffs is Sept. 16 in Auburn.

Football Earns Big Win

The Fairbury Jeffs Football team squared off against the Syracuse Rockets during a home game on Friday, Sept. 2. The Jeffs led the Rockets by a score of 21-13 at halftime. After halftime the Jeffs outscored the Rockets in the second half to win the ball game by the final score of 34-20.

The next competition for the Jeffs is Sept. 9 in Falls City as they take on the Falls City Tigers.

Damian Green ’17 and Anthony Moyer ’17 combine for a tackle that knocked the ball loose. The next competition for the Jeffs is Sept. 9 in Falls City. 

Football Dominates Season Opener

Jacob Johnson ’18 rushes for a touchdown against David City. Johnson had two rushing touchdowns and 160 yards on 10 carries. 

On Friday Aug. 26 the Fairbury Jeffs football team opened their season against the David City Scouts. The Jeffs dominated the game from the start as they led 20-0 after the first quarter. They never slowed down as they beat David City by a score of 47-3.

The Jeffs had great performances on both sides of the ball. Quarterback Adam Wasserman ’18 threw for five touchdowns in the win. On the defensive side Paul Mach ’17 had a big night as he finished with eight tackles. The next contest for the Jeffs is Sept. 2 at home against Syracuse.
