The first round of the conference tournament for the boys basketball team was played at home against the Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines.
The previous struggles for the boys basketball team continued early in the game. They struggled to score in the first half ending with only six points. The defense wasn’t much better in the first half allowing 29 points.
“We started off really slow,” said Jax Biehl ‘23. “We got down by a lot early in the game and we were never able to come back from it.”
After a rough first half, the boys team needed to turn things around in the second half. The boys outscored Wilber-Clatonia in the second half 25 to 15 but it was never enough to overcome the large deficit they got themselves into. The final score was 44-31.
“We came out stronger in the second half and played a lot better than the first,” said Blake Starr ‘24. “We ended up winning the second half but we need to play more like that in the first half.”
The boys basketball team struggled against the wolverines starting the game slowly and digging themselves a hole too large to get out of. Moving forward the boys plan to forget their struggles and prepare for future games.
“Recently we have been started the games a little slow and we need to work on that,” said Brendon Runge ‘23. “We need to start the games better moving forward.”
