On Homecoming night, the Jeffs earned their first win over the Fillmore Central Panthers 28-7.
Quarterback Jax Biehl ’23 led the Jeffs offense going 17-27 and 205 passing yards while throwing for three touchdowns. These proved the difference for the Jeffs in the win.
“My receivers were doing an excellent job of getting open,” Biehl said. “They were making it really easy for me to get them the ball.”
Zane Grizzle ’22 was previously the starting quarterback before an injury and Biehl had to step in. After returning, Grizzle was moved to running back and he felt that these changes were a big part of success for their team.
“I did enjoy playing quarterback but I always wanted to play another position,” Grizzle said. “I was moved to running back and that opened up a lot of opportunities for our team.”
The team was happy to win on homecoming night in front of fans and alumni. Junior Connor Gerths was happy that they finally won a game that might spark something in their team moving forward.
“It felt amazing to finally come out on top and get the win,” Gerths said. “This might finally get our team going and help us win some more.”
