A Summary of Cross Country in September

This year for Cross Country is going good for the Fairbury Jeffs. With a total of 14 runners, seven boys and seven girls, the team won quite a few individual medals and a first place team plaque. All of the names in this story won a medal at that meet.

The first meet of September was on the ninth at home. The girls placed fifth out of 17 teams with Alissa York winning 11th place. For the boys, they placed 11 out of 16 teams and Ethan Smith placed ninth.

The next meet was a week later at Fillmore Central. The girls team won fourth out of eight teams and Mariel Ramos placing 19th and Alissa placing 16. For the boys race, they placed ninth place as a team out of 18 teams.

Thayer Central was next and this meet was great for the Jeffs. The girls team won first place and three girls won a medal. Alissa in ninth place, Mariel in tenth place, and Cora Tatro in 16th. For the boys, they scored eighth place out of nine teams, with Ethan placing seventh place and Alekz Hunt placing 20.

The next meet the Jeffs went to was the Malcolm Invite at Branched Oak. Unfortunately I don’t have the results from that meet, but Alissa did medal at that meet.

The last meet of September was at the University of Kearney Nebraska. Girls placed 24th out of 28 teams and the boys got 28 out of 37 teams.

Tomorrow on October 1st, Fairbury runs at Syracuse and hopefully wins another first place.
