On Thursday February 20, the Lady Jeffs basketball team traveled to Beatrice once again to compete in the subdistrict games. The Jeffs played the top seeded Syracuse Rockets for their chance to the district final. The Jeffs started out strong at the beginning of the game keeping a close score to the opponent team.
The game was rather low scoring, with both teams only having a score of 4 at the end of the first quarter. By half time, the score was 15-11, the Jeffs trailing behind by only 4 points. In the third quarter the Jeffs were able to take the lead by racking up 12 points and only allowing the Rockets 8 points. The tables turned in the fourth quarter when the opposing team was able to score 15 points and the Jeffs were only able to score 5. Jami Mans ’22 was able to make a 3 pointer with only ten seconds remaining in the fourth but was unable to tie the game with Syracuse. The Lady Jeffs took a devastating loss to Syracuse, 34-30 to end their season.
The Lady Jeffs ended the season with a winning record of 14-10 and lost four seniors.
