FFA Members earn state degrees through extensive preparation and interviews

Senior FFA Members travelled to Milford yesterday to interview for their state degrees. The students had to explain their Supervised Agricultural Experience Projects (SAE) and how the Agricultural Education course they take all connect. Preparing for the interviews is a rigorous process according to FFA President Kennedy Deboer ’20.

“We had to fill out record books and put every paycheck from our jobs and every FFA activity we’ve ever done,” Deboer said. “We get a rubric of what the judges are going to ask, and we study off of that.”

All of the preparation paid off because all the seniors who interviewed earned their state degrees. Those seniors include Deboer, Sara Huss, Joe Melcher, Dalton Peterson, John Kerwood, Devin Wanamaker, Taylor Runge, and Bret Cole. Deboer also won district champion in proficiency award which was an additional competition she competed in. The state degree earning members will be recognized at the state convention the first week of April.

“It’s good to see all the hard work pay off,” Senior Sara Huss. “It was a lot of work, so it’s good to get it all done and focus on something else.”
