The boys varsity basketball team lost to top 10 rated Sutton at Fairbury, 55-42 on Thursday, January 23.
Sutton took the lead early in the game outscoring Fairbury 12-4 in the first quarter. Fairbury hung tough in the second quarter, but ended the half down 30-21.
“Overall we played very well,” Coach Travis Steinhoff said. “We made a lot of plays in the defensive end. Offensively we played a little bit tight, until the 4th quarter.”
At the end of the third quarter Sutton still had the lead by 17 points. The game ended after a tough fight by Fairbury but still not able to beat Sutton. Players thought they could have done better on both ends of the floor.
Offensively we were running our plays well, but not making our shots,” Bret Cole ‘20 said. “Defensively we didn’t play our best.”
