Jeffs basketball takes the cake at Wilber-Clatonia

On Thursday January 16 the Jeffs traveled to Wilber Clatonia to take on the Wolverines. Going in the boys basketball team had a record of 7-5 on the season and were looking to make it 8-5. With the wolverines record being 10-2 they knew they were going to have to put in the extra work to make this a win for the Jeffs.

Sophomores Zane Grizzle and Ethan Smith tied with each other in 3 pointers. Both players were able to make two 3 pointers through the game. Ethan had a 50 3FG% and Zane with 33 FG%. The Jeffs made six 3 pointers in the entirety of the game. Smith was also one of the highest scoring players throughout the game along with senior Chance Amundson, both players were able to rack up 8 points each.

Dylan Starr ’21 was able to contribute to the teams win by making 4 of his 5 free throws in the game. Starr was also able to make 4 defensive rebounds and 1 offensive rebound, which helped lead the Jeff’s to victory. The Jeffs won by six points. The final of the game was 40-34. The Jeffs next game will be at home against Sutton.
