The Fairbury Boys Golf team took a trip to Thayer Central on Thursday for the Thayer Central invite. There were 10 other teams that competed at the invite. The invite was originally scheduled for Wednesday, May 8, but but was rescheduled because of bad weather.
There were 5 golfers that competed at the invite. Those 5 golfers were Dalton Petersen ’20, Devin Wanamaker ’20, Joe Melcher ’20, Jacob Marin ’22, and Braden Suey ’22. Petersen ’20 had the best score for the day with a total of 90. The team had a total score of 408.
“I think that our team competed really good at the Thayer Central invite. It was also a great chance for some of our players that are going to district golf on Tuesday to get a good round of golf in for some extra practice.” Braden Suey ’22 said.
The golf team will be competing at Districts on Tuesday. The team is excited to play against some good competition and feel confident about Districts. The team has been practicing all season for this meet and now it is time to show off all of the practice and time they have spent to improve themselves.
