“I’ve always wanted to cheer but never got the opportunity to cheer in high school,” Bassett said. “So towards the end of my senior year I knew I needed to get into some type of cheer if I wanted to make the college cheer team.”

Bassett is currently a part of Live, Love Dance. Live, Love, Dance is an organization out of Plymouth, Nebraska that offers ballet, jazz, hip-hop dancing and cheerleading.

Live, Love, Dance offers cheerleading and tumbling camps throughout the summer. Bassett says she will be taking private lessons to improve her tumbling skills.

“I really want to master my back handspring this summer!” Basset said.

Practices at Cloud County will start in August for Bassett. Practice times can vary from in the mornings 6-8 am or evenings 8-10pm. Cloud county cheerleaders are strictly basketball cheerleaders due to the fact that they do not have a football team.

“This wouldn’t be profitable without my aunt and uncle pushing me and being supportive,” Bassett said. “And also my cheer coach letting me join so late in the year.”
