Boys track opens the season at Seward

The boys track team started their season at Concordia University in Seward on Thursday, March 14. With tough Class B competition, the team placed 5th behind Blair, Seward, Boys Town and Omaha Skutt Catholic.

In the field events, the Jeffs got off to a good start. Dalton Buxton ’19 got second place in shot put. Zane Grizzle ’22 earned 7th in triple jump. Isaac Robertson ’19 got sixth in long jump and second in triple jump. Brock Beed ’20 got 3rd in pole vault and Payton Firmanik ’21 earned 4th place. Dylan Starr ’21 placed 2nd in high jump.

For the running events, the 4×8 team, consisting of Brandon Hinrichs ’19, Jeremiah Gray ’19, Zane Grizzle and Jayson Klaumann ’19, placed 5th. The 4×4 team including Brandon Hinrichs, Zane Grizzle, Ethan Johnson ’22 and Dillon Weichel ’19, placed 6th. Dillon Weichel earned gold in the 60 meter hurdles followed by Alex Buxton ’22 in 6th and Colton Starck ’19 in 7th place. Brandon Hinrichs placed 6th in the 400 meter dash and Zane Grizzle came in 8th.

Coming up, the boys track team will be competing on March 23, at Fairbury’s home invite.
