Speech team has a phenomenal performance at districts

Nichole_Mar112019_0040.jpgThe Fairbury speech team traveled to Raymond Central to compete at districts. They are sending two individuals to state and one OID group (Oral Interpretation of Drama). The group consists of seniors Michaela Buchli, Jayson Klaumann, Taylea Mills, and junior Lauren Patton.  Jayson Klaumann brought home the gold in the informative division. Senior Nichole Harris took third in the extemporaneous division.

“I was very satisfied with myself and how everyone performed at districts,” Klaumann said. “I am also happy with how much our team progressed throughout the year; I am excited to see how the next coming years will turn out.”

On March 21 and 22 the Fairbury speech team will be in action for the last time this season at the state tournament. It will be held at the University of Kearney and will be the last time the seniors will have a chance to bring home some hardware.

“I was really happy with how I did,” Harris said. “I treated every speech like it was my last and gave it my all. Even though it was my second-to-last speech tournament, I think it was the most I’ve grown in my three years of extemporaneous speaking. I’m really proud of how our team did as a whole yesterday, everyone gave their best performances and we had a lot of people get really close to breaking finals. After yesterday, I’m excited to hear about how great they all do next season.”
