Lady Jeffs cage the cougars

The Lady Jeffs competed in the first round of the Southern Nebraska Conference Monday, January 28. The Jeffs took on the Sandy Creek Cougars at home. After one half of play the Jeffs lead the Cougars 45-10. The Jeffs came out on top with a final score of 58-21.

Junior Sara Huss lead the Jeffs with 21 points Monday night and 11 total rebounds. Huss also had three blocks for the night. Karly McCord ’22 also had 13 points for the night. The Jeffs scored 28 points in the first quarter.

“Sandy Creek right in the beginning was lights out,” Jessa Eden ’19 said. “Our shots were going in left and right, right off the bat.”

The lady Jeffs played in the second round of the SNC tournament Tuesday at Superior. Friday, February 1 the Jeffs will be in action at York for a makeup game. Following Friday the Jeffs will compete at Seward Tuesday, February 5.

“We’re striving as a team and I couldn’t be more thankful for these girls on and off the court,” Eden said.
