On Tuesday, January 8th, the swimmers attended their home dual against Hasting at Beatrice. The girls team took the win, while the boys team was defeated by Hastings.
For the girls team, Mikwena Lierman ’21 swam well in the open 100 meter freestyle.
“My times in the open 100 free were better than the meet before,” Lierman said, “I wish my 100 free time would have been better on the relay.”
Lierman said that she swims better at the home pool because the have very nice block and that her team swam better as well.
“Our team did very good and scored a lot of points,” Lierman said,”we had to work to beat Hastings.”
For the boys team, Colton Starck ’19 swam the 50 meter backstroke, the 100 meter butterfly, and in the Medally and 200 meter freestyle relay.
Starck said that he made a personal record in the 100 butterfly and got second place. Starck also believes that he did bad in the team’s 200 freestyle relay.
“I had a bad flip turn, and I had no momentum off of the wall,” Starck said.
Starck said that in the 200 freestyle relay, the team won and secondary qualified for state however their team was disqualified because a team member jumped to early before the other swimmer touched the wall in the relay exchange.
“We now know that what to work on to improve for the next meet and we know we are able to qualify for state,” Starck said.
