Wednesday, October 24th marked the second year that Lily’s Flowers and Gifts took part in the Petal It Forward campaign by surprising students at FHS with bouquets. The nationwide movement was started four years ago by the Society of American Florists in order to spread more happiness.
“I got the idea to do it in our town when I saw ads online about the event that was going on nationwide and wanted to join in on the fun,” owner of Lily’s, Lacey Schoenbeck said.
Recipients of Petal It Forward receive two bouquets-one for themselves and one for friends, family members, or even complete strangers.
“Since we are a small town and do not have commuters walking the streets, we go into businesses in our community and hand out flowers,” Schoenbeck said.
Bouquets were handed out to one classrooms at the high school then got to share them with the rest of the school.
“I think it is a really cool way to spread positivity,” Kennedy DeBoer ’20 said. “It brightens up your day to get a bouquet, but then you also get to make someone else’s day.”
