Golfers show promise at home invite

On April 19th, the Fairbury Boys Golf Team hosted their home invite. Schools in attendance were Beatrice, Milford, Seward, Norris, Thayer Central, Crete, and Fairbury. Leading Fairbury’s squad was Aden Watson ’21, who shot a 98 and placed 21st. Following Watson was Dalton Petersen ’20, who shot a 104;  Trevin Arnold ’19, who shot a 116; Joe Melcher ’20, who shot a 118; and rounding off the Fairbury varsity squad was Devin Wanamaker ’20, who shot a 122. Fairbury placed 6th in team scoring with a combined score of 436.

“I did better than last meet,” Watson said. “I feel good that I beat Dalton [Petersen].”

The Fairbury JV team also participated in the home invite. Leading the JV team was Owen Blocker ’19, who shot a 126; followed by John Kerwood ’20, who shot a 154, and Keith Lee, who shot a 161.
