Speech members put on their last performance

This past week, the 2017-2018 speech team officially came to an end. Three seniors, Britney Scheetz, Grant Snyder, and Jordan Ruhnke gave their last high school performances in the BFAC, along with the other 10 members.

“This was my first year doing speech,” Ruhnke said. “I regret not doing it before my senior year, but I am glad I chose to do it!”

Overall, this team has done well this past season, with all of the members medaling at at least one competition.

“We have improved in medal count at McCool Junction, Thayer Central, conference at Fillmore Central, and Sutton,” Coach Leibel said. “I would say the meets we’re going to, we’re getting better at. Our competition is the same but we are beating them.”

Over the past few years under Leibel, the team’s record has continued to improve. Although the season came to an end, the future looks good for next year.

“I think we’re in good shape and I think we’re in good hands,” Leibel said. “My goal is to increase our numbers in students for the future.”
