Two speechers medal at Crete Cardinal Classic

On Saturday, February 3, the speech team traveled to Crete to compete at a tough meet full of Class A schools.

“We did a good job. It was the biggest and toughest meet in the state,” Speech coach Aaron Leibel said. “We got good experience for districts. Two kids in the top 18 is a huge accomplishment.”

Dakota Gladson ’19 and Jayson Klaumann ’19 both got within the top 18 in their categories. Gladson got 5th place in the Merit division. Klaumann got 2nd place in Honors.

“I got 17th out of at least 100 students and I got fifth in Merit,” Dakota Gladson ’19 said. “I think I can practice and work on my delivery as I give my speech. Practice makes perfect.”

The speech team will be in action on February 10 at the Meridian Speech Meet.
