On Monday, January 29, the NBFF swim team competed in a home dual against Lincoln Pius X. The meet went well for many Pius swimmers while the NBFF team had some trouble. Throughout the meet, some of the swimmers had to scratch their events because students were feeling ill. Although the swimmers did their best, both the boys and girls lost the dual to Lincoln Pius X.

“I think we as a team did pretty well. Going up against a team like Pius (a team with Olympic trial participants) can be kind of discouraging,” RJ Suey ’19 said.

Some highlights of the meet for Fairbury were Mikasa Lierman ’19 getting a PR in the 100 butterfly and Mikwena Lierman ’21 placing firstin the 50 freestyle. Mikwena Lierman qualified for the state meet at NBFF’s second meet of the season and continues to improve her qualifying time.
