On Monday, January 29, the girls’ basketball team hosted Sutton for the first game of the conference tournament. The girls had already played Sutton on January 18 where they beat them 45-42.

“Playing this team before helped a lot. We were able to know the the players’ tendencies,” Macy Ohlde ’18 said. “It also helped us be more comfortable with the game. If we would’ve played someone we hadn’t played before, I think we would’ve been more nervous.”

The girls ended the first quarter just behind Sutton at 6-5. The Lady Jeffs ended the game winning 41-33. Next, the Jeffs traveled to Heartland Tuesday, January 30, to take on the Huskies for their second conference game.

“I think the team played alright during the Sutton game. It wasn’t our best game, but we still found a way to win,” Ohlde said. “I thought we did a good job getting it inside, but our passing struggled.”
