Wrestlers do well at Nebraska City

On Saturday January 13, the wrestlers traveled to Nebraska City to participate in their Dual Tournament. Fairbury got 4th out of 16 teams.

“I thought our kids wrestled very well.  It was a very tough tournament and to get 4th place out of 16th teams was a very big accomplishment,” Wrestling coach Derek Garfield said.  “We continue to get better every week and we are heading into the stretch run of the season wrestling very well.”

The first team they faced was Southwest IA. The jeffs won 75-6. The next team was Falls City and the jeffs won 72-12. Nebraska City was the next team and we won 47-21. The championship bracket started with the Jeffs losing to Hastings 55-15. The last dual of the day was against Wahoo and the jeffs lost 49-24.

“I think we did exceptionally well because we went up against top tier teams like Hastings, who are number one in the state,” Brock Beed ’20 said. “I may have lost a few of my matches, but they were tough matches.”
