On Friday, December 15 the Lady Jeffs basketball team traveled to Crete to take on the Cardinals.
Heading into halftime Crete was leading Fairbury 26-20. The girls couldn’t gain the leverage that they needed to stay with the Cardinals. Crete ended up pulling
away ending the game with a score of 58-39.
Sara Huss ’20 was the leading scorer for the Jeffs earning a total of 10 points. Huss also lead the team with 8 rebounds. Huss said their biggest emphasis Friday night was making sure that Crete didn’t get any extra chances with the ball.
“I think standing your ground under the basket is more of a mental thing,” Huss said, “Once that ball goes up, in my mind its: thats my rebound, I need to get that ball.”
Huss believes that the team played a solid three and a half quarters, but the fourth quarter kind of slipped away from them.
“We played hard and we went into the game like we had nothing to lose,” Huss said, “We played right with them even though we were expected to lose.”
The lady Jeffs will travel to HTRS on Thursday, December 21 to take on the Titans.
