Wrestling heads to Waverly for quadrangular

On Thursday, December 7 the Jeffs wrestling team placed second as they traveled to Waverly for a triple dual.


In the first round of the meet, the Jeffs defeated Tri-County with a final score of 52-21. During the second round, the Jeffs beat Fillmore Central with a final score of 51-21 and lost a close battle with Waverly resulting in a final score of 44-36.

“We did some really nice things at our triple dual on Thursday night,” Coach Derek Garfield said. “Started off with two really solid performances against Tri-County and Fillmore Central. Against Waverly, we gave up too many bonus points in matches which ultimately cost us the dual victory.”

Major point contributors and wrestlers with three wins each were: Brock Beed ’20, Austin Barnts ’18, Logan Slater ’18, Marshall York ’18, and Ace York ’19.

“I was trying to focus on my shots and how I set them up to make sure I could get them as perfect as possible,” Austin Barnts ’18 said.
