On December 2nd, the Fairbury Jeffs wrestling team travelled to York to compete in their annual invite. After a long day filled with wins and losses, the team placed 5th with a total of 89.06 points.
Several wrestlers brought in various amounts of points to help lock down that 5th place spot. Zach Reikofski ’18 was the highest-placing medalist of the day, and from his 2nd place spot he brought 18 points to the table.
“I think I wrestled pretty strong for the first tournament of the year,” Reikofski said. “There is definitely a lot of room for improvement.”
This was only the first step on the road for the season for the wrestlers. After realizing some mistakes they need to clean up and gaining more insight on their weight class, the team will continue to work hard in order to meet the ambitious goals they’ve set for the season.
“Hopefully this season goes nowhere but up.” Carson York ’20 said. “I want to work my hardest to make it to state and keep a good work ethic.”
