Construction class takes on big project

Mr. Scott’s Block 7/8 construction class has taken on a big project this semester. The class has been working on making a one-car attached garage for FCS teacher Tammi Mans.

Students taking the class will learn how to frame walls, layout stud locations, use certain tools, and eventually how to shingle and put siding up. Scott hopes that students will take away more from the class than just the skills they learn.

“I want them to learn about safety and the importance of working as a team,” Scott said. “I hope that by taking the class they may take an interest in it and go into construction.”

Scott intends to wrap up the project by the end of November assuming all the materials arrive and the weather permits.
