Lady Jeffs softball team places second at Crete Invite

For the second time in Lady Jeffs history, the team placed at the Crete Tournament.The Class C Lady Jeffs softball team placed 2nd overall at the Crete Invitational on September 23. Along with Fairbury, Bishop-Neumann was the only other Class C team

amongst Class B teams. On Saturday, The Lady Jeffs played Grand Island Northwest, Seward, and Hastings.

In their first game against Grand Island Northwest, Fairbury sealed the deal against The Vikings ending it 10-0 in the fourth inning by a 3 run homerun by Destini Warnke ’18.

Going into their second game against Class B state ranked Seward, The Bluejays offense was no match for The Jeffs defense ending the game with a 2-1 score.


After both wins, The Jeffs made way for the championship game facing an overall state-ranked team. Hastings now ranked 2 in Class B defeated The Lady Jeffs in the fifth inning 8-0.

“We knew going in that it was going to be a tough tournament since five of the eight teams that were there were all rated, but overall I felt pretty good coming out with 2-1 and getting second at that tournament,” head softball coach Taylor Biehl said.
