On Thursday August 24th, the Lady Jeffs softball took a road trip to Hastings for a triangular and extended their win streak to 4-0 on the season. After inning one against Adams Central, the Jeffs and the Patriots were tied at three, but a home run by Sarah McCown ‘18 put the Jeffs up 4-3. From there, it was smooth sailing for the girls as they secure their lead to 8-3 in the fourth inning. The Lady Jeffs ended the game 12-5 to get the win.
In their second game, the Jeffs faced Ord. After a slow start, the girls got the ball rolling after four extending their lead to 3-0. Leading the Jeffs against the Chanticleers in hits were Tori Likens ‘17 with two singles, Brittyn Wentz ‘21 with two singles as well, and McCown ‘18 with a single and a double. Coach Taylor Biehl was very impressed with the team, their effort, and how well they played.
“The girls rallied really well together, especially after starting third baseman Destini Warnke ‘18 couldn’t play due to illness. I thought they battled back and ended up having two errorless ball games,” Biehl said.
The Lady Jeffs will head to Seward Saturday August 25th for tournament play, starting at 9:30 against Centennial.
