Girls’ basketball split over Tri-County, Aurora

After winter break the girls’ basketball team traveled to Aurora and Tri-County for their games. At Tri-County the girls beat the Tri-County Trojans 47-39 after coming back from a 9-0 deficit. Sara Huss ‘20 and Sydney Miller ‘18 lead the scoring with 10 points each. Sara Huss lead the team in total rebounds with 14.

“We started off really slow with a 9-0 deficit, said Engle-Evans “We had some different kids step up at different times, so we definitely needed everybody there to help us get to the victory that we needed”joy-gbb20170105_7987

On Jan. 6 the Lady Jeffs lost to Aurora 61-27. According to MaxPreps, Jaelle Johnson lead the scoring with 6 points. Sara Huss lead rebounds with a total of 7.

“Aurora was rough, they’re very good very athletic class B school, and I think we were a little tired from the night before,” said Engle- Evans, “We got down 19-0 before we scored and when you dig yourself that big of a hole against that good of a team it’s kind of hard to come back from that.”
