On Friday Sept. 30 the Fairbury football faced off against the Ashland-Greenwood Bluejays in a district contest. The game was one to be remembered. The two teams went back and forth to make the score tied 14-14 at the half.
Ashland-Greenwood were the first to score in the second half but missed the PAT to make the score 20-14. A long drive by the Jeffs offense set up a touchdown for Fairbury with under a minute left in regulation. The score was a 30 yard touchdown grab for Tanner Novotny ’17 from quarterback Adam Wasserman ’18. Justin Peterson ’17 drilled the extra point to give the Jeffs a 21-20 lead.
The Fairbury defense held off a late attack to preserve the victory. The next contest for the Jeffs is Friday Oct. 7 as they travel to Wymore to take on the Southern Raiders.
